ABOUT  ME

Nice to meet you! Enchantée!

I’m Amélia (they/them/iel), a French-Canadian arts and social justice worker from the unceded territories of the Songhees and Lekwungen (“Victoria, British-Columbia”).

I am currently based in so-called “Vancouver”, where I completed my bachelor’s degree in film production at Simon Fraser University where I’ve written, shot and directed short narrative dramas and documentary films. My works have been featured in Vancouver Island Short Film Festival and the Small File Media Festival. I am also an emerging theatre-maker, with the debut of my co-written and co-performed piece "Cracking The Nonbinary Code" as a part of Ignite! 2023. In my practice, I explore themes of queerness, language through metaphors based in memory, nostalgia and the fantastical.

In addition to my community engagement work for 2SLGBTQIA+ serving organizations, I also have a thriving videography and editing practice where I create promotional videos for artistic organizations, companies and individuals.

I’m excited to collaborate with you!
